Masterson’s Lounge, located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I encountered behind its doors was disturbing and far below any standard .
The Condition of the Premises : Squalid and Abandoned
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was evident that hygiene was not a priority at this venue. The ground was covered in grime , and a pungent odor of old alcohol and neglected washrooms suffused the entire bar . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , decay and a sickly smell. The serving zone , which should be the focal point of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and litter that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The restroom was in even more deplorable shape — spilling over , with a shattered handle and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was fecal matter .
